MNRI®
The Masgutova Method® is a set of programs focused on the restoration and maturation of primary movements, reflexes, coordination systems, skills for optimal performance of natural mechanisms, developmental processes, brain functioning, and sensory-motor integration.
Svetlana Masgutova is a developmental and educational psychologist who has spent her life researching and developing the Masgutova Neuro-sensorimotor Reflex Integration Method® (MNRI®) to address motor, learning and emotional delays.
Dr. Masgutova’s techniques focus on primitive and postural reflexes to restore the brain’s foundational structures on which higher level skills, such as academic learning and emotional responses are built.
MNRI® is a method of stimulating a reflex and repeating the original motor pattern of the response with control. This allows the neural connections of the reflex pattern to strengthen and integrate into the larger body scheme. The nervous system then gains independence from the pattern necessary for more involved movement. It provides the brain and body with new pathways that allow the foundation for higher level movement and thinking to develop.
HOW DOES MNRI® WORK?
MNRI® methodically provides the brain with sensory input paired with the correct motor patterned responses.
Alex will assess how the individual’s reflexes are functioning and design a plan for how to prioritise and implement a program. Parents are trained to implement the plan at home with their child with ongoing support from Alex.
Through simple motor checks and behavioural checklists your child will be evaluated to determine reflex patterns. Often when one reflex is integrated within the sensory system, others naturally mature. Weekly therapy sessions will be spent working through the reflex pattern. You will be able to perform some of these activities at home after learning them during a session.

Research and observations in MNRI ® have shown that the use of primary movements and reflex integration can awaken self-regulation of the sensory, motor and proprioceptive systems that influence health, learning, and development.
Individual MNRI® programs have promoted neuro sensory motor development and improved motor, emotional, and cognitive function in children and adults with learning challenges such as, ADD, ADHD, PDD, OCD, Apraxia, Asperger Syndrome, Fatal Alcohol Syndrome, emotional disturbances, Sensory Processing Disorder, PTSD, Cerebral Palsy, genetic disorders, brain stroke and others.
